Firsthand Performances was a hybrid live installation and performance at the Encuentro Festival in Bogota, Colombia, realized by Nohemi Montzerrat Contreras and Josephine Dorado. The project explored the fusion of physical and online performance and invited public thoughts on ideas of “performance.”

We dressed the space with various and sundry costumes, wigs, and other funky accoutrement so we and visitors to our installation/performance could create different “characters” that were then recorded into Seesmic (which previously existed as a forum for online video conversations) and projected. We then used these live+recorded elements to improvise live dance performances, creating a recursive loop of improvised performances.
