Video Sample 1: Shayne’s scars: Diptych 1
“Shayne’s scars: Diptych 1” is an installation-in-development that is a (conceptually rough) representation of the Some Collisions installation: stories about scars juxtaposed with engineering vernacular that describes how certain materials react under stress, tying physical science to human response and resilience. Realized by Josephine Dorado and Phillip Gulley at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. (2015)
Video Sample 2: Early concept demo of proposed project, Some Collisions
Scars are a map of our collisions with the world
Below is an earlier concept demo of Some Collisions. In this early exploration, we experimented with weaving narrative together seamlessly, as well as cinematic techniques that blend smoothly in an immersive media environment. In its fuller version, Some Collisions will be an immersive media installation and online experience that synthesizes stories of science and scars with media narratives, creating a map of our collisions with the world. Starting with scars as a catalyst to expression, we’ll gather stories of scars from veterans and communities affected by war, weaving together a continuous cross-platform narrative that explores the moments that make our tissue more complex. (2014)
Video Sample 3: Orpheus Variations
Orpheus Variations was an interactive show featuring stories, poems and experiences integrated through live music, performance, cinematic illusions, and media culminating in a single cinematic experience and cohesive voice. (Media Designer: Phillip Gulley, in collaboration with Deconstructive Theatre Project, Director: Adam Thompson). (2013) Password: 4reel

2. Firsthand Performances: a live media installation and performance which explored the fusing of physical and online culture through digital story booth exposition, physical installation and public thoughts on ideas around “performance.” Visitors were were invited to create ‘characters’ that were then recorded, storybooth-style and continuously layered with improvised live dance and re-broadcast into the online/physical space, creating a recursive loop of improvised performances (by Nohemi Montzerrat Contreras and Josephine Dorado for the Encuentro Festival, Bogota, Colombia, 2009)
